    9:30 - 10:30h: Lecture & Discussion - The Image of the Scientist

    • The image of the scientist in the public, based on studies from the 1960s until today
    • Scientists in mainstream media and how this affects the opinion of the public
    • Is the public‘s opinion congruent with your own? How do you want to be seen by the public?

    10:45 - 12:30h: Practical Part - Dealing with the Media I

    • Understanding the media
    • Guideline how to give good interviews
    • Group work on interview training: Good interviewer, bad interviewer

    • Video analysis of the interview situations
    • Optimization of interview skills
    • Self-confidence in interviews and loosing fear in front of cameras

    • A brief history of science communication
    • Discussion: Does it makes sense to involve the public in your research (Blogs & Tweets)?
    • Review on suitable internet platforms for science communication (Twitter, MaxNet, Research Gate)
    • How to use RSS feeds for daily updates
    • Alternative ways for science outreach and funding: Crowd funding
