Press Release of the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on VLBI observations of the innermost region of M87 in the Virgo Cluster at a wavelength of 1.3 cm. Thomas Krichbaum from the MPIfR is Co-Author of the original paper published in "Science": Jet-Launching Structure Resolved Near the Supermassive Black Hole in M87 (Sciencexpress dated 27 September 2012, 10.1126/science.1224768). This work is part of the MPIfR's efforts to enable global VLBI observations at 1 mm wavelength.
