Gender Equality Officers and Gender Equality Committee

Important actors for the gender equality work at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy are the Gender Equality Officer and her deputy. They are contact persons for all questions of gender equality and gender sensitivity, and they are elected every four years by the female staff.

Next to the local Gender Equality Officers there is a Central Gender Equality Officer in the Max Planck Society. She advises and supports the local Gender Equality Officers and plays a significant role in the development of the gender equality strategy of the Max Planck Society. Furthermore, there are up to five Section Gender Equality Officers per section that accompany appointment processes for W3 and W2 professors.

Furthermore, a Gender Equality Committee has been established at the institute that, next to the Gender Equality Officers, is staffed with key personnel and interested parties. It meets quarterly and monitors the implementation of the current Gender Equality Plan.
