Welcome to the official SABOCA website

SABOCA ( Submillimeter APEX Bolometer Camera)
is a multi-beam bolometric receiver developed by
the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie (MPIfR) of Bonn

SABOCA is a superconducting (TES) bolometer camera
installed on the APEX telescope
for operation in the 350 micron atmospheric window

Spectral Response

The spectral band passing through the set of filters used in SABOCA has been measured at MPIfR with our Martin-Puplett FFT interferometer. The figure below shows the passband of SABOCA compared to the atmospheric transmission at APEX, on the Llano de Chajnantor, for typical values of the precipitable water vapor.
